Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 (SPNS)
Red Dynasty Paintball Park, located within Bottle Tree Park, recently played host to the Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008. Organised by Paintball Association (Singapore), the Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 was a 3-leg competition that spanned across the entire year of 2008.
The Overall Champion was PSG Warfreakz, who participated in all 3 legs, 2 podium finishes and accumulating enough points to pip everyone else, see them sitting comfortably at the top.
Also, it was good to see the rise of another paintball team, Team Carnage which is led by Mr. Thomas Lee, the nominated MVP for Leg 2. Carnage has always been a formiable team, good in paintball fundamentals and obviously young and fast enough to make the dives and get into bunkers quickly.

PACKAGE A - The Shooting Gallery (30 paintballs per pax) - $10.00 per pax
Try out the first paintball shooting gallery in Singapore! If you are new to the sport and would like to have “hands-on” experience on a paintball marker, this is the choice for you. Just “Aim, Squeeze and Fire!” at targets at the target range. Suitable for individuals or groups who are keen to learn about the basics of handling a paintball marker. Ideal for team building checkpoints.
PACKAGE B - JAMES BOND (50 paintballs per pax) - $25.90 per pax
“One Shot, One Kill” Bring out the James Bond in you! Try out our designed scenario games and pit your skills against your opponents. Our game marshals will guide you along in these role playing games which enhances team camaraderie and communication. Suitable for groups who are keen to do a little running and dodging. Estimated game duration is about 1 hour which includes safety briefing.
PACKAGE C - THE GODFATHER (100 paintballs per pax) - $35.90 per pax
Be a member of the Mafia and shoot at your own will. Instill fear in your opponents with overwhelming pellets. A class of its own, players will be assigned with 100 paintballs each. Game scenarios will be introduced with a twist of fun leaving everyone with a smile at the end of each game. Estimated game duration is about 1.5 hour which includes safety briefing.
PACKAGE D - RAMBO (250 paintballs per pax) - $49.90 per pax
One man with one mission: Destroy the opposition and survive! With 250 paintballs assigned to you, you are fearless and dangerous. Immerse in a fun day of shooting, hiding and capturing the flag! As our most popular package, this will guarantee you a full paintball experience. Suitable for team building games amongst friends, colleagues and families. Special events such as birthday parties, hen and stag parties, carnivals, companies retreats, outdoor adventure activities, tournaments and more…Estimated game duration is about 2 hours which includes safety briefing.

Phoenix Canariensis (Canary Island Date Palm)
Introduction
This large stately palm often reaches a size too massive for most residential landscapes but, fortunately, it is very slow-growing and will take considerable time to reach its 50 to 60 foot height. The Canary Island Date palm looks most impressive with its single, upright, thick trunk topped with a crown of 8 to 15 foot long, stiff leaves with extremely sharp spines at their bases. The stalks of inconspicuous flowers make way for clusters of one inch diameter, Orange– Yellow, Date– Like, Ornamental Fruits which ripen in early summer. The Trunk can reach a diameter of four feet and is covered with an attractive diamond– shaped pattern from old leaves dropping off.

Macrozamia (Moorei)
The Macrozamia Moorei is one of the most majestic of Australian native cycads. It is named after Charles H Moore, the first superintendent of the Sydney Botanic Gardens. It is renowed for it’s large rounded, date-palm-like crown gracefully curved with dark bluish green fronds.
The species grows in large colonies, frequently in easily accessible scenic rocky areas. It is apparently well known both in Australia and overseas.
Macrozamia Moorei is suited to tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate regions. It is a hardy and versatile species and adapts well to climates and soil with good drainage.
Key Features of this plant:
- Mature specimens transplant readily.
- All species take well to cultivation in the container.
- Most species can be grown under the full sun but for best appearance may do better with some protection, such as in partial shade.
- Tolerates Heavy Frosts
- Records show that plants have grown to 2 metres tall ( 6 ft 6 inches) from seed in less than 100 years.
Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea Glanca)
Grass Trees from Australia are slow in growth.
Mature plants are centuries old. They have a life span of 600 years.
It is noted that it took 27 years to grow to a height of 30 cm. As it grows only 1-2 cm per year, a 1 metre grass tree is usually about 100 year old.
Conditions for planting a grass tree
An area open to the sun
Well drained soil
Plant deep enough so that the top of the root ball is at ground level
Water the plant twice a week. Making sure that the roots are thoroughly wet with around 50 litre of water per week.
Fertilize once every 3 months.
Apply pesticide only if needed.
Bottle Tree (Brachychiton Rupestris)
- Native of Queensland
- Renowned for its unique shape
- Distinctive due to its “ Bottle Like” Swollen Trunk
- Grows to a height of about 12 metres.
- The leaves are narrow, elliptical and deeply divided.
Cultivation
The Bottle Tree withstands temperature from –10 to 50 Degree Celsius.
Bottle Trees Grow well in well –drained, slightly acidic soil, under good sunshine.

Bottle Tree grow very slowly in the initial stages.
For the first 2 years, They grow 1 metre in height with slender truck.
They grow a 1 metre in diameter trunk within 40 to 50 years and 2 metres in diameter trunk within 80 to 100 years.
